Don’t let Cancer limit you
Instead limit the effects of Cancer on you
Those fighting cancer or battling with the side effects of the treatment don’t give up your fight with the big C of Cancer. Embrace the 3 Cs of Confidence, Courage, and Cheerfulness to fight your battle. Look fear in its face and use your confidence and courage to take the bull by its horns. As Katherine Paterson rightly said “To fear is one thing. To let fear grab you by the tail and swing you around is another.” Our toughness is in our soul and spirit, not in our muscles.
You must be asking yourself, “Is it really possible to stay cheerful when you don’t feel well on most of the days, when the appetite falls and the taste buds go dead or the blood count goes for a toss?” Trust me, the best way to cope is to stay positive in your thoughts, interact with people who have positive attitudes and keep yourself engaged as much as possible with your hobbies and other work. When your mind is diverted and you think less about your suffering, lesser will be your pain. Look for those hobbies you always wanted to do, the movies you wanted to see, the songs you wanted to hear or the books you wanted to read. It’s all in our mind. Don’t let fear and negative thoughts destroy that fighter in you. Fight the battle with Confidence, Courage, and Cheerfulness and soon the dark clouds will fly over and you will be a victorious warrior.
Eleanor Roosevelt’s quote has a lot of relevance to this context:
“You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do.”
