ICS strongly believes in primordial and primary prevention of Cancer. Mortality and suffering can also be reduced through early detection of cancer and appropriate treatment and care. Also, as statistics tell us the incidence of cancer increases with age. The facts are alarming.
Why Is It Important To Focus On Oral, Breast And Cervical Cancers?
These 3 cancers have the highest incidences in India
- In India one woman dies of Breast Cancer every 13 minutes. Breast Cancer is the most prevalent cancer across the world.
- Cervical Cancer is the 2nd most common cancer among women in India. Majority of the deaths occur in low income countries, and India accounts for one-fourth of deaths world-wide.
- India contributes to one-third of total Oral cancer cases in the world. 70% of cases are reported in an advanced stage, resulting in low chances of cure. Oral cancer cases are reported five times higher among men as compared to women.
Indian Cancer Society Karnataka, has spread its wings to 18 districts in Karnataka and touched the lives of over 35,000 beneficiaries in the last 5 years.
